A little overview of the first month of 2016, which I personally thought was a pretty good month, although not wintery enough by far. I am a winter person, I love when the cold slaps you in the face, the days are short and you need three extra blankets to stay warm at night. So the 12 degrees Celcius we've been having these past few weeks are not really doing it for me.

But Awards Season is in full swing and I'm happy to see Leo collecting all his well-deserved statues. 'The Revenant' is the only Oscar nominated film that has impressed me this season anyway, so far. And while the rest of the world seems to be making a big fuss about the #OscarsSoWhite issue, what I really worry about is the fact that not one tv channel over here is even broadcasting the Oscars this year. - I knooooow.

I've also tried to keep up with all the Pre-Fall 2016 collections that have been presented over the past few months and after the spectacle of the Haute Couture shows last week I feel I am now ready for the upcoming Fall 2016 fashion weeks. I don't think I'll have time to attend any myself this season but I am all prepared to have my social media accounts clog up with streetstyle photos again and for vogue.com to bring me my daily dose of fresh inspiration. Naturally I'll share some of it on here later.

As for my own outfits lately - I am in the middle of a big renovation project and so I've been spending a lot of time dressed in my oldest and most comfortable clothing. Usually topped off with a beanie and, more often than I would like to admit, with a pair of Uggs. And I love having an excuse to not make an effort, if I'm totally honest.

The Theory of Everything

'The Theory of Everything' is the film I had been looking forward to the most these past months. I have, of course, the biggest crush on Eddie Redmayne and the fact that he was portraying someone so extraordinary in a film that would show glimpses of a city I have the absolute best memories of (Cambridge, where I lived for a while) - well, it was all I needed to be sold before I'd even seen the trailer. Eddie and Felicity Jones, as Stephen Hawking and Jane Wilde, both give flawless performances that had me crying quite a bit. I knew, of course, who Stephen Hawking is and I knew about his work and theories but I have to admit that without this film I'd never have known much about his life with his first wife Jane. And while at first I was a bit disappointed to learn the film actually shows very little about Stephen's work, I did not mind at all in the end. This heartbreaking yet heartwarming real life love story made me come out of the theatre feeling strangely uplifted and positively inspired.

At the Golden Globes on Sunday night Eddie took home the Lead Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) award and obviously I'm absolutely thrilled about this. Felicity Jones was up for her role as well but Julianne Moore won in that category for her role in 'Still Alice' (which I have yet to see). However, Felicity can take home the Best Dressed  award, if you ask me, as she looked beyond amazing in her classic teal Christian Dior gown. She and Diane Kruger were my favourite looks of this event by far! The film also won a Golden Globe for Best Original Score (by composer Jóhann Jóhannsson).

Red Carpet Season

Sooo.. Awards Season has kicked off this week and you may remember from previous years on my blog that I'm the kind of geek who gets pretty excited about this. However, I've only actually seen a few of the films yet that are in the "race" this year so this means that I'm going to be really busy catching up on those over the next few weeks! And what it also means is that until then I will mainly be focusing on the red carpets instead. I've picked out a few (mostly current season) gowns I'd love to see the (so far) nominated actresses wear on the red carpet and so tomorrow on Golden Globes night I'll be holding my breath (no, really..) to see if any of them (and their stylists, obviously) will make my red carpet wish come true - OR if perhaps they've had an even better styling idea 'cause I sure wouldn't mind some big custom made surprises either.
