It's hard to believe we lost yet another legend this month, right? So: Purple Rain one more time because there's no way we could ever play this song one time too many anyway.

Also, I finally had a chance to see 'Brooklyn' this month and it's without a doubt one of the best, most subtle and moving films I've seen in a long time. Highly recommended.

Happy weekend everyone!

Dior and I

05zDIOR2-superJumbo-1050x700I finally got to see Frédéric Tcheng’s 'Dior and I' here in the Netherlands this week and I can say it definitely lived up to my (pretty high) expectations. As I mentioned before it's about Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection as the new artistic director for Christian Dior, back in 2012. And a behind-the-scenes look of the making of ány couture show is exciting to me anyway. But what made this film truly magnificent in my eyes is that, in addition to that, you're álso getting to know the people behind the collection and the emotions that come with that kind of process. It's exciting to watch how this team managed to work together on something so amazing in such a ridiculously short amount of time. All in all, I highly recommend seeing it. credit: diorandimovie.com

James Horner

James HornerAhh. I woke up to the incredibly sad news that Hollywood composer James Horner (61) has died in a plane crash. I was fortunate enough to have just seen him at the Royal Albert Hall back in April (see image above) and to have heard him speak passionately about his work and particularly the score he composed for 'Titanic'. Like so many others, I fell head over heels in love with 'Titanic' and its music when I first saw it. I was 13 y/o and I don't mind it sounding cheesy when I say it's been a pretty big part of my life ever since. So I wish I could simply thank James for completely blowing my young mind and thank him for the amazing collection of work he leaves behind!
