My favourite night of the year (Oscar Night) is coming up this weekend! I have some big favourites this year but first, here's what I would like to see the nominated actresses wear on the red carpet tomorrow night. (use the prev and next buttons to navigate through the gallery above)
Julianne Moore: It could be a big night for Julianne and I'd love to see her have a shimmering winning moment up on stage in this navy blue Alexis Mabille Couture gown.
Felicity Jones: She's been my favourite on the red carpet throughout the entire awards season and she could be my best dressed again for sure if she opts to wear this stunning delicate Elie Saab Couture gown.
Marion Cotillard: I think it's pretty safe to say Marion will wear Dior again on this year's Oscars red carpet. I hope it will be something custom made but otherwise I'm sure this white dress from the Spring 2015 Couture collection would look great on her as well.
Rosamund Pike: I am still waiting for Rosamund to wow us on the red carpet this awards season and with a Delpozo gown like this that is exactly what she could do at the Oscars tomorrow.
Reese Witherspoon: Reese seems to like her gowns to fit tight but I would love to see her in something a little more classic and princessy for a change. This dark red Oscar de la Renta gown would be amazingly chic on her.
Keira Knightley: She's mentioned a few times that she doesn't feel like showing off her baby bump on the red carpet but prefers to wear something loose and comfortable. I've had a thing for this tiered lace Valentino Couture gown since I first saw it on the runway last month and I can't wait to see what it looks like without the jacket so here's hoping Keira might wear it!
Laura Dern: The colour of this Jenny Packham jumpsuit would look so great on Laura and I would love to see her step out of her comfort zone by opting for the jumpsuit instead of a dress.
Patricia Arquette: She looks best in simple designs without too many frills and so I picked this Armani Privé gown for her.
Emma Stone: Emma is another one of my big favourites on the red carpet - not just this awards season, but in general. I don't think I've ever not liked something she's worn. I would love to see her in something big and eye-catching but she would look outstanding in this simple chic white Valentino Couture cape dress as well.
Meryl Streep: The colour and fit of this Christian Siriano dress would be all sorts of perfect on Meryl.
Now, as for the actual Oscars, here's what I'm hoping will happen:
Eddie Redmayne to win Best Actor. For me his performance definitely stood out amongst the nominated ones this year. And I'm not just saying it because of my gigantic crush on him. I know Michael Keaton is the other favourite to win but, to be honest, I don't even get why he got nominated in the first place. 'Birdman' I think is the most overrated film of the year. To me it just felt like a bit of a fun experiment in camera techniques with some over-acting actors added to it to kind of make it seem like a "real film". I didn't warm to any of the characters, nor did I laugh at any of the "jokes".
But anyway. I think 'Boyhood' is likely to win Best Film and I would be okay with that as I thought the idea of this film was pretty impressive. I was not blown away by the actual film, to be completely honest, but I can't say it's not a good one. My personal pick for Best Film would be 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' though, no doubt about it. I loved everything about it and I think Ralph Fiennes should have been nominated for his performance instead of Michael Keaton for 'Birdman'.
Unfortunately I haven't seen 'Still Alice' yet but I'm sure Julianne Moore will pick up the Best Actress award for it and I'm sure it'll be a deserved win as well as I think she's a fantastic actress. However, out of the other films that I háve seen my favourite has to be Felicity Jones. No other performance this year has touched me the way she has in 'The Theory of Everything'.
My picks for Best Supporting Actor and Actress are J.K. Simmons for 'Whiplash' and Patricia Arquette for 'Boyhood'. I also loved Ethan Hawke's performance in 'Boyhood' a lot. Best Director I think should be either Wes Anderson for 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' or Richard Linklater for 'Boyhood'. My favourite original score of the year is the 'Interstellar' score created by Hans Zimmer and unfortunately I can't pick a favourite song or animated feature film as I haven't seen or heard all of them from their categories.
