So, after a long and exhausting Oscar Night, let me sum up my Oscar thoughts! I've decided to ignore the fact that 'Birdman' won in some of the big categories where I would much rather have seen 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' win and just celebrate the actors' wins instead. The Best Actor in a Leading Role category was a tense one and, judging by their reaction, Cate Blanchett (who presented this award) and Eddie Redmayne himself were as happy and relieved to see him win as I was. Best moment of the night for me - although it was amazing to finally see Julianne Moore win an Oscar as well, right? This we had expected to happen all along, of course, so no surprise there.
As for the actual show I thought Neil Patrick Harris did an "okay" job as a first-time Academy Awards host and, of course, his John Travolta joke was his best one of the night. Lady Gaga's simple tribute to 'The Sound of Music' I thought was absolutely wonderful and her performance gave me goosebumps all over.
The Oscars red carpet this year has not been the most exciting one ever but my favourites had to be Cate Blanchett in Margiela, Rosamund Pike in Givenchy Couture and Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford (here). What did you guys think?
