The Imitation Game

Another extraordinary film I got to see this week is 'The Imitation Game', based on the real life story of mathematician Alan Turing, who helped cracking the Enigma code the Germans used to encrypt messages during World War 2. It's beautifully filmed and the entire cast is amazing. Benedict Cumberbatch plays his best role yet as the closeted gay genius Alan Turing. Besides the Enigma story the film also shows the disturbing narrow-minded morality at that time; homosexuality was illegal and women were not supposed to work with men. For a World War 2 related film about an interesting man like Alan Turing the film is quite simple and does not get into the different characters all that much - but that doesn't take away from the greatness of it and it certainly did not bother me. 'The Imitation Game' deservingly got nominated for 8 Oscars! Check out the trailer below:

Begin Again

I saw this film a while ago and was pretty charmed by it. Cute, simple story, a New York backdrop and the ever cool Mark Ruffalo in the lead.. what's not to like? I can definitely recommend it for a dark and rainy afternoon!

Begin Again synopsis:

The latest film from writer-director John Carney is a soul-stirring comedy about what happens when lost souls meet and make beautiful music together. Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label exec, stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her raw talent. From this chance encounter emerges an enchanting portrait of a mutually transformative collaboration, set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City.

Keira Knightley for Net-a-Porter's THE EDIT

Keira Knightley is this week’s cover star for Net-a-Porter’s successful online magazine THE EDIT and I'm absolutely loving the editorial, shot by photographer David Bellemere and styled by Natalie Brewster. Keira looks as gorgeous as ever with wavy hair, flawless makeup and dressed in Alexander McQueen, Erdem and Dolce & Gabbana, amongst other designers. Keira Knightley for new Chanel 'Coco Mademoiselle' Campaign

I did not realise it was this long but Keira Knightley has been the face of Chanel's 'Coco Mademoiselle' for 7 years now and this is her 3rd and latest campaign for the fragrance. There was never any way I was going to like this new film as much as I loved the previous one but I do think it's pretty sleek. Once again directed by Joe Wright, the video shows an ever beautiful Keira Knightley mastering the elegant disappearing act. The scent will also feature a print advertisement photographed by Mario Testino.
