Manchester photo diary

Again, as with my London diary a few weeks ago, this one exists mostly of phone snaps. But it does give a nice little impression of what it's like to join me on a short visit to the lovely city that is Manchester and to stay at The Lowry Hotel; a gorgeous five-star contemporary hotel where Salford meets Manchester on the banks of the River Irwell. The peace and quiet and an insanely spacious river view room were what made me enjoy this hotel the most but the friendly staff and yummy breakfast definitely helped as well. I had not been in Manchester anymore since 2007 but I have amazing memories of the times I have spent there before and so I guess you could say I'm a fan. Now, if you're ever thinking of going there as well, consider staying at The Lowry Hotel - you won't be disappointed!

As a longtime fan of backpacks I was a bit bummed that the whole world seemed to have caught onto the "trend" and backpacks were suddenly everywhere. For that reason I started using mine less and less. Until I got introduced to this sleek glossy leather Loxley England backpack and fell in love with wearing a pack on my back all over again. This Mini Gloucester Rucksack is practical and sturdy as well as incredibly chic.

Also, how about this shirt? It would be so easy to transform this one into a sexy nurse Halloween costume. Not that I'm planning on it.

2015 Cannes Film Festival

The 2015 Cannes Film Festival kicks off today and I'm excited as ever about all the film news and reviews that will be coming our way over the next 11 days. Among the films that will premiere during this year's festival are 'Macbeth' (Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard), Todd Haynes' 'Carol' (Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara) and 'Louder Than Bombs' (Jesse Eisenberg and Amy Ryan), as well as Woody Allen's 'Irrational Man' (Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix), Natalie Portman's 'A Tale of Love and Darkness' and the animation film 'Le Petit Prince'. The festival will open today with the film 'La tête haute' by Emmanuelle Bercot, which, interestingly enough, happens to be only the second opening film in the festival's history to have been directed by a woman.

The Cannes red carpet seems promising this year as well, with red carpet fashion favourites such as Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett and Diane Kruger attending. Here's hoping someone will finally wear that gorgeous Valentino Couture dress I've been dying to see off the runway (and without the jacket) since January! Use the prev and next buttons to navigate through the gallery above.

Rosetta Getty Pre-Fall 2015

Rosetta Getty's Pre-Fall 2015 collection is such a pretty mixture of tomboy and ladylike styles, all with a certain amount of slouchiness to them. I definitely wouldn't mind wearing all of these looks on different occasions and particularly during confusing in-between seasons like the one we're in at the moment!
