Happy Oscar Weekend!

I thought I'd kick off Oscar Weekend (yes, if Valentine can now be a weekend, so can the Oscars!) with some beautiful Oscars red carpet looks from past years. Cate Blanchett in Valentino at the 2005 Oscars has to be my all-time favourite, it was súch a fab dress and she looked absolutely divine ♥ You can watch a video of her winning the Best Supporting Actress award here, it's one of my favourite Oscars moments ever! Also, check out this lovely video of Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams on the 2006 Oscars red carpet below, it was the year Michelle wore that stunning vintage-inspired Vera Wang gown. I can't wait to see what she'll wear this Sunday :)

I'm planning on making some changes to this blog over the next few days, so I apologise in advance if anything seems off for a bit. Happy weekend everyone!

BAFTA Awards 2011 Red Carpet Wishes

The BAFTA Awards 2011 take place in London this evening. Unfortunately they haven't announced any presenters yet, so it's going to be a real surprise to see who will walk the red carpet other than the nominees! But for my 5 red carpet wishes this week I picked a few of the nominated actresses and this is what I would love to see them wear tonight: Gemma Arterton is a stunning lady and looks good in pretty much anything, but I'd wish for to her wear an Elie Saab Couture gown from the latest Spring 2011 collection. This delicate silver dress with 3/4 sleeves would look particularly amazing! Julianne Moore is obviously a big fan of Lanvin and I think this halter dress from the Pre-Fall 2011 collection would look great on her as the colour would suit her skintone and hair colour. For Anette Bening I've picked a Carolina Herrera dress, which has a beautiful printed top. Noomi Rapace often wears Elie Saab on the red carpet, but has recently worn some Alexander McQueen as well and I think the navy halter gown with gold detailing from the Pre-Fall 2011 collection would be perfect for her. Natalie Portman looked stunning in Viktor & Rolf at the Golden Globes last month and because the shape of this dress worked so well for her (now that she's pregnant) I now picked a similar shape in red from the Alexis Mabille Couture Spring 2011 collection.

SAG Awards 2011 Red Carpet Wishes

The SAG Awards take place tonight and as always I'm VERY much looking forward to the red carpet show, which I'll be watching live after midnight. Last year Diane Kruger looked picture perfect at the SAG Awards in a mustard Jason Wu gown (see it here) and I can't wait to see who will stand out this year. Like 2 weeks ago with the Golden Globes I have 5 new red carpet wishes for tonight: Not new, but the J. Mendel Resort 2011 collection is a fabulous one, it has so many beautiful red carpet looks in it, so I'd love to see one of those tonight. The blue one would look amazing on Claire Danes, who at the Golden Globes proved not to be afraid of some colour! Nicole Kidman could make me forget about her Golden Globes red carpet fail if she would show up wearing that stunning black/gold Carolina Herrera dress and Mila Kunis I'm sure would look outstanding in the nude Christian Dior dress from the Resort 2011 collection. Dianna Agron is a classic beauty and rarely gets it wrong on the red carpet, but instead of dressing in pinks and nudes I'd love to see her opt for something else this time, like this khaki Monique Lhuillier gown. Finally, I adore the black Valentino Couture dress with sheer overlay and I could really see it on someone cute and young like Hailee Steinfeld. This dress is also the only one in this bunch that I'd love to see worn with some colourful earrings or other fun accessories.

Amy Adams at the 2011 Golden Globes

My favourite red carpet look of the Golden Globes this year was Amy Adams. She never lets me down on events like this and looked absolutely stunning in a strapless navy blue Marchesa gown with lasercut detailing. She's always so effortlessly elegant and she really knows what style, colours and shapes suit her best. With a faux bob (a back-braided updo) and natural makeup she looked flawless from head to toe ♥

Golden Globes 2011 Red Carpet Wishes

The Golden Globe Awards 2011 take place tonight and although I won't be able to watch the show live I'm still prettttty excited! Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to see all of the nominated films yet, so I can't really talk about who I want and who is going to win, but I watched "Black Swan" this week and was very impressed by both Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis' performances!
Anyway, the red carpet I WILL be watching live of course and above you can see just a few of my red carpet wishes. I'm in love with Michelle's latest hairdo and she blew me away in that white Balenciaga dress this week, so I'd love to see her continue with this style and walk the red carpet in that adorable light blue strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. She wouldn't wear the jacket and her accessories would be kept to a minimum. I would love for Leighton Meester to bring some colour to the red carpet with a lime green off-shoulder Dior dress, while Anne Hathaway could look elegant and chic in a strapless Giorgio Armani gown from the latest Pre-Fall 2011 collection. The nude embellished Elie Saab gown looks like it was made for Olivia Wilde and she would look absolutely beautiful in it, but I've read that she's wearing an American designer's dress tonight, so it looks like that wish won't come true for me then ;) And finally the bright blue Jason Wu gown I'd love to see on Emma Stone, as it's young and fun and would suit her style and personality. (And she'd be wearing something underneath, of course!)
