2011 Cannes Film Festival

Last night was the closing ceremony of the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival and prizes went to Terrence Malick’s "The Tree of Life" (Palme d’Or), Kirsten Dunst for her role in Lars Von Trier’s "Melancholia" (Best Actress), Jean Dujardin for his role in Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" (Best Actor) and Nicolas Winding Refn won Best Director for "Drive". As for the red carpet looks, I haven't really been wowed too much this year.. I did have a few favourites though: Jessica Chastain, for one, looked outstanding in a yellow Zac Posen gown at the "The Tree of Life" premiere. Kirsten Dunst looked fabulous as well on several occasions, but I particularly loved her yellow Chloé dress she wore for the "Melancholia" photocall. And Fan Bing Bing is simply flawless éverytime she sets foot on a red carpet and at this festival my favourite look of hers was when she was dressed in a lime Oscar de la Renta gown at the "The Tree of Life" premiere. 2011 MET Costume Institute Gala

After spending several (okay, MANY) hours last night and today picking my favourite looks from last night's 2011 MET Costume Institute Gala I thought I'd share my 3 favourites on here as well and point you to the rest of the MET Gala looks I LIKED. I was disappointed to see so little Alexander McQueen-ish drama, 'cause with the Alexander McQueen "Savage Beauty" theme that is what I was expecting (or hoping for), but there was still a lot to get excited about. I was positively wowed by Dianna Agron in Michael Kors and Freida Pinto in Chanel Couture, as well as a few others, but Diane Kruger, Salma Hayek and Zoe Saldana stood out for me. Diane wore Jason Wu (and brought gorgeous bf Joshua Jackson, so she scored extra points for that) and Zoe, like last year, wore Calvin Klein Collection. I LOVE how this dress is so simple, but completely stands out because of the sunny yellow colour. Salma was one of the honorary chair's of this year's MET Gala and she looked a-ma-zing in her nude chiffon figure-hugging Alexander McQueen gown. I would love to hear who your favourites were!

Givenchy Couture Spring 2011 & Cate Blanchett's Oscar dress

So the Oscars red carpet wasn't too impressive this year, but one actress stood out and that was, of course, Cate Blanchett. She once again blew me away looking absolutely stunning in a lilac Givenchy Couture gown, my favourite piece from this Spring 2011 collection (see Cate's red carpet look here). It reminded me that I still had a draft post with images from this collection and figured now would be a good time to publish it. You can watch a little interview with Cate (by Tim Gunn) at the Oscars red carpet in the video below (she's on right in the beginning of the video at 0:15) ♥

Oscars 2011 Red Carpet Wishes

So these are 5 of my red carpet wishes for the Oscars tonight! We've already seen several looks from Elie Saab's Spring 2011 Couture collection on the red carpet over the last few weeks, but I'm hoping we'll get to see a few more tonight. I don't réally expect Amy Adams to wear another Elie Saab gown so soon after the one she wore 2 weeks ago in London, but if she does I'm hoping it'll be one of the three dresses with the beautiful floral print. I don't think the coral gown she wore to the BAFTAs was the best shape for her, so this one I've picked out for her might be better. The one-shoulder Atelier Versace dress from the Fall 2010 collection seems perfect for Halle Berry, who I think should always wear dresses that show off her amazing figure. And I'm most excited to see what Cate Blanchett is going to be wearing tonight and I would be over the moon if she picked out this fantastic blue Alexander McQueen number from the Pre-Fall 2011 collection, I'm sure the colour would look absolutely stunning on her. For Reese Witherspoon I've picked out an adorable strapless Giambattista Valli dress from the Spring 2011 collection. And finally, I think Sandra Bullock would look very classy in this strapless Donna Karan dress from the Fall 2011 collection. The colour is beautiful and with her hair in a "casual" updo I think she would look just perfect.

It's going to be a long night for me (the red carpet show starts at midnight & the Oscars show at 2am) but I'm SO excited! You can follow me on Twitter to read all my latest red carpet tweets and be sure to visit I Like Your Look. if you want to see pictures of all my favourite red carpet looks!
