I cannot even comprehend all that's happened lately. After the tragedy of MH17 the Netherlands feels like it's got a dark cloud hanging over it - even though it really is in fact bright sunny. My heart, naturally, goes out to the victims and all their friends and families.
In the midst of all the terrible news, though, you sometimes just need a good film to distract your mind a bit and put a little smile on your face. 'Little Miss Sunshine' to me is the perfect feel-good film to watch this weekend. It's too hot to do anything outside anyway and, believe me, it IS okay to not go outside when it's 30+ degrees Celcius, no matter what they tell you.
'Little Miss Sunshine', in the unlikely event that you've never heard of it before, is a classic award-winning film with a superb cast including an adorable Abigail Breslin and legend Alan Arkin. It's about a dysfunctional family going on a road trip in a yellow Volkswagen Type 2 mini-bus to enter Olive, one of the children, in a childrens' beauty pageant. Watch the trailer below or just (re-)watch the film and here's hoping you will all have a lovely weekend!
