Anna Karenina

'Anna Karenina' finally premiered here last week and I was pretty excited I got the chance to see it at last! It definitely did not disappoint. Visually incredibly stunning, it has a good pace, a fantastic cast and outstanding costumes. I actually found a great video about these costumes, which you can see below.

In case you're not familair with this epic love story: set in late-19th-century Russia high-society, a married woman (Keira Knightley) falls for another guy (Aaron Johnson) and chooses him over her marriage and son. The whole film is set as if in a theatre, which is actually what I think is most brilliant about this film. The stages keep moving and you seem to roll from one setting into the next. Keira is beautiful as ever and while Aaron Johnson's character in the film is not one I would usually fall for at all (and his blonde hair and moustache are beyond ridiculous) I could definitely understand the appeal and even found him quite irresistible. And then there's Jude Law, who stood out for me because of his flawless interpretation of Anna's husband Karenin. All in all it's a feast for the eyes and the ears - definitely a must-see!
