The Artist

On a grey and chilly afternoon this week I decided to go and see 'The Artist' and this turned out to be such a special experience. It's a silent black and white film with an intriguing simple story and exceptionally good acting. I highly recommend this one! It's charming and funny and the cinematography is more beautiful than you could imagine from a black and white film. Jean Dujardin, who plays movie star George Valentin, is brilliant and so likeable - as is his co-star Berenice Bejo, who plays upcoming actress Peppy Miller. Also, the dog in this film simply stole my heart and deserves an Oscar of his own!

Official synopsis:

Hollywood 1927. George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is a silent movie superstar. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career and see him fall into oblivion. For young extra Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo), it seems the sky's the limit - major movie stardom awaits. 'The Artist' tells the story of their interlinked destinies.
