Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2011

This Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2011 collection is just what I imagine a Pre-Fall collection should be: a perfect combination of summer dresses and winter coats. It's for that time of the year when you're not quite ready to let go of summer just yet, but at the same time you're getting a little excited about the cold and cosy winter months ahead. I love the short red dress and I expect to see that one being worn on the red carpet soon, it's gorgeous :)

Mila Kunis' LA Times Magazine Cover & Black Swan

I have to admit I never knew much about Mila Kunis, probably because her previous films have mostly been comedies and never really appealed to me, plus I never watched "That 70's Show" (tv series), but ever since seeing her breakthrough performance in "Black Swan" I'm a little obsessed with her. She blew me away with her role as Lily in this film, she's also rocking one red carpet after another this Award Season and now she's gracing the cover of LA Times magazine (shot by photographer Ruven Afanador), looking just heavenly in a beautiful Georges Hobeika dress. She seems to be everywhere at the moment and it'll be interesting to see what film she chooses to do next!

I've actually seen way too many "Black Swan" posts around the blogs lately and because of that I wasn't planning on doing one myself, but after I just found these stunning LA Times magazine images I couldn't resist after all. I'm sure everyone has seen "Black Swan" by now though, but just in case you haven't: check out the trailer below and try to go and see the film asap! Mila obviously has far less screen time in this film than Oscar nominated Natalie Portman, but she definitely made an equally big impression on me.

Here's the official synopsis:

Black Swan follows the story of Nina, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica, who zealously supports her daughter's professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily, who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.

Fashion, Ahoy!

This week I went to see the exhibition "Fashion, Ahoy!" at the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam. Originally presented at the Musée National de la Marine in Paris in 2008, this exhibition displays maritime inspired designs from Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior and others. I was particularly impressed by the heavily embellished jacket from the 5th pic and the exclusive design by Claes Iversen, which he created especially for this exhibition (you can see it here and in the video below). I also took a look (and a few pics) inside the ship "Buffel" (next to the museum), which is an old marine ship - pretty cool :)
Anyway, you can see all the best looks from "Fashion, Ahoy!" in this little video I shot:

Christian Lacroix Evening Dress (1996)

I found some pics of an exhibition I visited at the V&A museum (in London) last year and I remembered how impressed I was by this Christian Lacroix evening dress from 1996. The stunning colours first caught my eye and then the floral print, the embroidered bodice and all the beautiful detailing were what made me fall in love with it..

Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2011

A selection of some of my favourite dresses from the Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2011 collection, which was presented in Paris today. As much as I'm a fan of Chanel, I have to admit the Elie Saab collection is usually the one I most look forward to during Haute Couture Fashion Week, as I can always count on him delivering at least SOME amazing (red carpet) gowns - and I looove red carpet gowns :) If I had to pick one dress for myself from this collection I really have no idea which I would choose (although the blush pink colour of the first few dresses is, of course, truly amazing). Love, love, love.

You can see all the looks from this collection HERE and check out this video of the show:
